The first “Video Game Law Summit 2024″ (VGLS 2024) concluded successfully on July 26 2024 at the Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund.
The event hosted 100 participants, including 23 speakers and 20 foreign guests, representing 11 different countries, with over 60% of attendees being in-house lawyers at leading game companies. The daylong event focused on the compliance challenges and opportunities that Chinese game companies often face when expanding overseas.
At the event, panel discussions cover various topics, including data protection, minor protection, consumer protection (dark patterns & loot boxes), the challenges of global game content compliance, negotiating game publishing deals, IP collaboration licensing, and regional outlooks in Japan and Korea. Our Founding Partner Greg Pilarowski, Partner Chao Yu and Associate Ziwei Zhu participated in the panel discussions.
We express our sincere gratitude to the Video Game Bar Association (“VGBA”) and the Shanghai Multimedia Industry Association (“MIA”) for co-organizing this event. Special thanks to Joseph Olin, the Executive Director of VGBA and Haoxia Ming, the Secretary General of MIA.
